Alinco DR-620E

Extend TX and TX
It's easy to make a wide band scanner of your DR-620E:

By remove the cover, you see a blue wire. Cut this wire and reset your TRX (PWR-on + FUNC).

Now you get the following frq. range:

VHF range:
76-108 mhz wfm only RX
108-136 mhz AM only RX
136-174 mhz FM RX and TX

UHF range:
400-480 Mhz FM RX and TX
800-999 Mhz FM RX
334-400 Mhz FM RX

To switch between bands use F and the CALL keys.
You can RX also on every band in AM by holding the F and pressing the LOCK keys.

Showoff display:
Use pwr onn together with V/M button, stop it by pwr on/off

Crossbandrepeater
  • Set all nessesary data like: Frequency, Power, Shift...
  • Then Push Powerbutton "OFF" - Hold the Band-Button and Power "ON"

The Display shows "*R" above SubbandFrequency and no Buttons works only Power

To deactivate Hold Bandbutton and Power "on"

You can also set Repeaterfrequency with shift but not the same Band VV/UU and no High Powersetting because the Receiver is mutet.

MARS Modification
  1. Open the cover of the main unit and locate the CPU just behind the left side corner.

  2. Locate a jumper wire marked JP3 on the circuit board near the CPU.

  3. Cut the jumper wire, remove it and reassemble the radio.

  4. Reset CPU by holding in the F key while powering the radio on.

After the mod, RX frequency expands to:
MAIN: 76-108MHz (WFM), 108-136 MHz (AM/FM), 136-174 MHz (AM/FM), 400-480 MHz (FM), 800-1000 MHz (FM), 335-400 MHz (FM)
SUB: 136-174 MHz (FM), 400-480 MHz (FM), 335-400 MHz (FM)

(T version is opened for RX already as default with 800 MHz cell frequencies blocked)

The TX frequencies should now be 140-150 MHz / 415-455 MHz MAIN BAND ONLY

The radio MAY actually TX over a wider range, but Alinco states that you risk damaging the unit.

NOTE: There is no cross-band repeat function in this unit; Alinco suggests that those requiring this function purchase the DR605.
