IC-2200H
Mods
|
MOD for extended RX/TX range |
RX receive circuitry can be modified to receive
from 118 MHz to 174 MHz. This requires the
removal of a surface mount diode D 11 from the
Logic Board. It is the only non SMT-Diode of the
Logic Board.
TX transmit circuitry can be modified to
transmit from 136 MHz to 174 MHz. This requires
the removal of a surface mount diode D 13 from
the Logic Board. D 13 is near by D 11.

While pushing [MONI/ANM] and
[LOW/DUP], turn the power on.
Now the
radio receives in the range of 118 - 174 MHz. In
the range of 118 - 135,975 MHz the radio
receives automatically AM. |

IC-2200H Mic
Output Modification |
Mod 1 of 2
The IC-2200H has minimal "sensitivity" to the point that
it is hard to achieve enough audio in what is sometimes a quiet area,
such as a home.
This modification electrically increases the output of the microphone
element. The attached picture's NUMBERS in brackets () will further
describe the steps. To complete this modification, you will need to
disassemble the hand mic that came with your IC-2200H, and replace a
surface-mounted resistor with a standard carbon resistor.
Mic gain modification
(Pix 1) Remove the original surface-mounted resistor

(Pix 2) Replace it with a 4.7 K resistor

This modification will result in a pleasing increase in sensitivity of
the microphone. The new ratio of the replacement resistor will provide
an increase of the mic element's audio level.
Mod 2 of 2
The IC-2200H has minimal "sensitivity" to the point that it is hard to
achieve enough audio in what is sometimes a quiet area, such as a home.
This modification simply allows better access to the mic element.. The
attached picture's NUMBERS in brackets () will further describe the
steps. To complete this modification, you will need to disassemble the
hand mic that came with your IC-2200H. This modification will result in
a pleasing increase in sensitivity and audio quality of the microphone.
Mic access increase
(Pix 1) Drill out (enlarge) the hole as shown
(Pix 2) Remove the poppel-pad, and remove some of the restriction
material. (This pix shows the removal of the soft rubber in-progress)
This modification will result in a pleasing increase in sensitivity of
the microphone. The new ratio of the replacement resistor will provide
an increase of the mic element's audio level.
