ICOM IC-40S  Tuning

ICOM IC-40S for the 70cm band.

  • 1 Remove the battery pack.

  • 2 Remove the sticker/ label from the back of the radio.

  • 3 Looking at the back of the radio you will need to find the vco tuning slug.

Turn the vco tuning slug to the right until you can TX on 433.075MHz then check the TX on UHF CB CH 40 (477.400MHz). If you can not TX on CH 40 turn the tuning slug back a little bit Until you can TX, Note: Turn the tuning slug a little bit at a time.

Put the radio back together and you will need to program all your freq (CH) in Test on air with another ham, it should be OK.

ICOM IC-40S cloning program and cable.
The program will allow you to program 20 extra TX/RX channels into the IC-40S using Icom's RX-ONLY software ( EX2118 ).

The program will automatically produce the EX2118.ICS file which Icom's RX-ONLY software uses to program the IC-40S. The README.TXT file contains instructions on how to use my IC40S program. The program must be run in the Windows95 MS-DOS Prompt mode.

Warning: You must have a licence before transmitting on a frequency. You will be breaking the law if you do not have a licence.

My HOMEMADE Cloning Cable

The above schematic will allow you to make a cheap alternative to Icom's Cloning Cable ( OPC478 ).

If you can't afford to buy Icom's cable, you will need the above cable to program the IC-40S.
