FT-50R CAP/MARS 

                   Expanded Transmit 140-174, 420-470

1 - Remove Battery. (of course)
2 - Remove the Ni-Cd sticker. (use a pair of tweezers or simular to remove
    without damaging.
3 - Remove the (2) silver screws.
4 - Slowly...Lift off the Keypad and carefully locate the Jumper Pads 
    (the pad does not just pop off! Work with it, may have to use a small
    screw driver to lift around the edges.
5 - Locate and unsolder jumper #1 (see diagram)
6 - Re-install the Keypad with the (2) screws. (be sure to get the orange seal
    back in the correct place.
7 - Turn Radio Off
8 - Press down and hold the Top-Notch(tm) and LAMP button while turning on the
    Radio.

    Modification Done (now the hard part, REPROGRAMMING THE RADIO!! HI HI.)

You can't                                                       miss it though.
