Stop over heating for FT-707

This mod is to stop the FT-707 over heating and causing frequency drift. Especially if the rig is normally used with the front rest extended or the rig tilted back.

Just unscrew the top cover and turn it round so that the top vents are at the front of the rig and not at the back. Thus allowing the air flow through the rig to convect naturally.

I did the simple mod in 1986 and the rig is still in use as Portable, Mobile and Maritime Mobile.

The mod needs just one cross head screwdriver and about 5 minutes of your time.
